I know I'm becoming a nuisance what with niggling constantly over species, but I'm pretty certain that's a cockatrice. You know, like that thing Raven put in our hallway.

It probably is. I need to dig out my copy of The Encyclopaedia of Things That Never Were.

Pretty hardcore park if it has a cockatrice in it, though.

Yay!

We love you cockatrice!!!!! :-)

As someone who spends way too much of her life in fantasy worlds online, in print and on celluloid I can say without a doubt that is a cockatrice.

No, really.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockatrice

How charming is it that you have a friends list full of people who know their griffins from their cockatrices (cockatrii?)? ;)

[identity profile] gleef.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Wikipedia has been promoted to become a fantasy world online :-) :-) :-)

I believe you. I shall edit accordingly.

It makes me glad that they're on my friends list. (Seriously--no sarcasm whatsoever in that statement.)

It's gorgeous work, no matter what sort of beast it is.

Gotta love bronze that's gone green. Especially when it guards the entryway to a castle.

Looking a cockatrice in the face, like a basilisk, is supposed to result in instant death.

However, since this is a bronze one, I only ended up with a kind of tired feeling afterwards...

It has the entire Mad Hatter's Tea Party in it, too.

And it loves turning tourons to stone! (Not really, which is sad, but we can keep hoping.)

[identity profile] miss-adventure.livejournal.com 2006-10-01 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I was blaming the Job(TM) for that tired feeling.

I'd have to say 'Cockatrice' as to the best of my knowledge, Gryphons (and Hypogriffs) had four legs.

[identity profile] miss-adventure.livejournal.com 2006-10-31 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Cockatrice it is, then.

I used to have this great bestiary which would have been a perfect reference, but it got lost during one of my many moves. Having not been able to replace it, now I do things like confuse gryphons and cockatrices.

Hi!

Is this to berate me for confusing a gryphon and a cockatrice? Because I totally deserve it. I also deserve a berating for falling out of touch with you!

Lol, Not so much; I thought that was funny!

I notice your email address is not listed in LJ. If you drop me a private email, I will add you to my list of people who get invites to local gathers and such.

*hugs*
